Quick Start

New to Lyd? Get set up in 3 steps:

  1. Sign In: Scan the QR code with your iPhone and sign in with your Sonos account
  2. Add Music: Use the official Sonos app to add playlists to "Sonos Favorites"
  3. Control: Select rooms, adjust volume, and enjoy your music

Setup & Getting Started

Signing In

Scan the QR code on the Lyd Apple Watch app with your iPhone, then sign in with your Sonos account.

Important: Use the same Sonos account that's connected to your speakers. If you have multiple people using the same Sonos system, you'll need to share the account password.

Adding Your Music

Lyd can access Sonos Favorites, Sonos Playlists, and all available streaming services. To see your music in Lyd easily:

  1. Open the official Sonos app on your phone
  2. Find your playlist, album, or radio station
  3. Tap the three dots (⋯) → "Save to Sonos Favorites"
  4. Repeat for each item you want in Lyd

Note: This doesn't include bulk-added playlists or podcast series. Each item must be added individually.

Voice Control with Siri

Say "Pause with Lyd" or "Louder with Lyd" (pronounce "Lyd" like "lid"). Siri will ask to activate all Lyd commands — confirm to enable voice control.

Multiple Households or S1/S2 Systems

Have speakers in different locations or both S1 and S2? Go to Options → Select household to switch between them. Make sure all systems are linked to the same Sonos account.

Guest Mode

Visiting someone? Go to Options → Select household → Guest mode to control their speakers temporarily.

Using Lyd

Basic Controls

Tap any room to see playback controls. Use the Digital Crown to adjust sound.

Changing Music

Select a room, then long-press on the screen or press the three dots (…) to open the menu. Choose "Change music" to browse your Sonos Favorites or search all available streaming services.

Grouping Rooms

Select the room with music you want to share, open the menu, then "Manage group." Choose which rooms should play the same music and tap "Done."

Voice Messages

Select a room, open the menu, select "Voice message", and record up to 30 seconds. Your message plays automatically on the selected speakers.

Complications

Lyd offers Apple Watch complications — small buttons you can add to your watch face for quick access to your speakers. Add them like any other complication in the watch face editor.

Troubleshooting

Speakers Disappeared After Sonos Update

Sonos updates can cause speakers to disconnect from the Sonos cloud. Try this:

  1. Unplug one speaker, wait 20 seconds, plug it back in
  2. This usually reconnects them to Sonos cloud
  3. If this doesn't work, try unplugging a different speaker

No Speakers Showing

  • Recent Sonos update: Wait a few days for speakers to reappear automatically
  • Wrong account: Check your email in the official Sonos app (Settings → Account Settings)
  • Force refresh: Select "More options", then "Reload"

App Won't Install on Watch

Sometimes Apple Watch refuses to install apps. Try:

  1. Restart both your Apple Watch and iPhone
  2. Open App Store directly on Apple Watch and search for "Lyd"
  3. Install directly from Watch App Store

Can See Music But Can't Control It

Make sure you're running the latest version of Lyd and update from the App Store if needed.

Data Not Syncing between iPhone and Watch

Enable airplane mode on both devices briefly, then disable and try again. If that doesn't work, restart both devices.

Frequently Asked Questions

How can I access my Spotify/Apple Music/Amazon Music/YouTube Music playlists?
You can access public playlists on all your streaming services, Sonos Favorites, and Sonos Playlists. Use the official Sonos app to add your (private) music to "Sonos Favorites" so it appears in Lyd.
Can I select specific songs in a playlist?
No. Sonos currently doesn’t allow third-party apps to browse inside playlists. You can start playback, but not pick specific tracks.
Do I need the iPhone app?
No. The iPhone app is optional and makes setup a bit easier. Lyd works completely independently on your Apple Watch.
I have both S1 and S2 speakers. Can I use both?
Yes! The app supports both S1 and S2 speakers. Each appears as a separate Sonos system (household). Make sure all speakers are linked to the same Sonos account, then switch between systems in Options → Select household.
I only see the wrong household. How do I find the right one?
Make sure all your Sonos systems are linked to the same account. You can transfer systems between accounts in the official Sonos app settings. If you don't see the household you want, check that you're logged in with the correct email address (visible in the official Sonos app settings).
Are voice messages secure?
Yes. After recording, your voice message is securely uploaded to a server using a random, private link. Your Sonos speaker downloads the message, and it is then permanently deleted. The messages are short-lived, password-protected, and accessible only to you.
How do I get a refund?
Refunds are handled by Apple. You can request one at reportaproblem.apple.com.
